Questions about swapping a 99 5.3 into my 88 chevy swb truck.
Hi everyone. My name is Greg. I have found a 1999 votec 5.3 for sale in my area. Here is the link to it. http://carbondale.craigslist.org/pts/4225776075.html It is seized. I have nothing but time but I am on a budget. I was originally just going build a cammed 350ci for the time being while I finished/ learned how to the suspension for my truck. I was wondering if it would ok to buy this motor and rebuild it with a carb? I know this is oddball, but It would give me time to tear it down and learn these motors in and out if I rebuild it. While running it carbed would also give me time to hunt down EFI parts and learn more about EFI swaps and redoing a harness. How hard would it be to change over to a carb and what would it take to do so? I.E parts or specialty price and price. I know these are non distributor style motors so that being the reason I am asking about what it would take. I am pretty green with LS motors and swapping except the s10 i did with my father when I was 16. So any information from some one who has done something like this feel free to chime in.Thanks ahead of time for any information you can give me. My truck currently has a stock 305 with a new intake and a carb. Its has a lot of miles on it.
