1998 Silverado 5.7L to 6.0L LQ4 modifying stock harness

First off let me say that I have searched and can't find what I'm looking for. I have a 1998 Z71 with the 5.7L and I wanna swap in a 6.0L, I haven't done the 0411 PCM swap yet. That is one of the next things on my list. So on to my question. After I do the 0411 swap and finish building my 6.0 can I modify my factory harness or do I have to get a harness made?? I thought I found a thread where someone said you just have to cut and install a handful of connectors over the LS style and change the injector pigtails.... But seeing how I can't find it again. I'm starting to think a either dreamed it or made it up in my head while day dreaming. lol any help would be awesome thanks.

Rather than modifying your factory harness, can't you buy a used 4.8, 5.3 or 6.0 harness and modify it for your truck? That's what I did. It took some time but it was worth it in the end.

Well I was planning to do the 0411 pcm. Should I just save my money and go another route??

I'm wondering if I can just do the 0411 PCM swap and change the connectors I need to on my factory harness ie. fuel injectors, knock sensors, cam and crank position sensors and so on... Thanks for any info

By the time you do all that, you could have the proper harness to run the engine. For instance, I found a couple local ads on CL with a harness for sale:

To me, time is money. The less time you spend trying to make your own harness, the more time you will have to enjoy driving the truck. Good luck with your project.

My hat is off to you in attempting to make your own harness. Even reworking a stock 4.8/5.3/6.0 harness to work in another vehicle can be a formidable task to some. But I feel that it is still easier than trying to rework a Vortec injected 350 harness.

Which is better to run?? A returnless system or the factory return line on the fuel rails?? which is easier and the pros and cons or each?? thanks.

Not sure about the pros and cons of each. Whatever your engine has I would run. If it has a return, just use your original fuel line plumbing for the install. If it's returnless, just cap off your existing return line.

Well I'm fairly certain my truck now has a return system and most of the intakes I have found has a return. So I guess I'll just go that route that way I don't have to change much in my fuel system.
