Theftlock bypass?
I know this isnt the correct section but it seems to be the most viewed.. i have a small problem. I have a 2005 yukon xl Denali (parents vehicle) and a 2004 silverado 2500hd lt2 (brothers truck) The silvy came with bose audio from the factory and the denali came with bose navigation head unit. My brother wants to put the navigation radio in his silvy but when i plug it up i get "theftlock activated" when i turn the key on. Ive read that you can do a simple sequence of key cycles and it will "relearn" the radio and bcm.. is this correct or do i have to actually hook up to it and clear the vin data from the radio and do a relearn procedure with a computer hooked up?

I've never heard of being able to do it yourself, but I could be wrong. However, if you could do it yourself do you think GM would have wasted the time on it?
As far as I know, you need a techII. Swing by your local dealer and pay them the $80 for a tech to do it....well x2 since the stock bose unit will need to be re-learned in the denali.
The older (late 90's) theftlock system could be bypassed, and it also rarely got set-up in the first place.

You will need to take it to a Stealership and have then reprogram it with a Tech II
