alternator/starter interchange??

went to order my alternator and starter today, and discovered at the parts store supposedly there is quite a variety in units available according to the dude there..

This is a 03 lm7 and has a 4l80e from 06 express van/flexplate from a 03 2500 truck, and converter from a 06 express van. Is there any particular starter that i should order for a specific vehicle? Same with the alternator. I assumed i would get just a 03 silverado 1500 with 5.3 alternator, and it would plug into the single wire nelson harness i have. Just wanted to make sure first though.

When I got my starter a couple weeks ago seemed like I needed the correct bolt length. My best guess you need the one for the vehicle which the Trans came out of... good luck bump

The alternator should be more simple just get the one for the donor motor vehicle.
