New From Mesquite,TX
Hey my name is Chris i am from Mesquite, Tx and in a car club Freaks of Nature. I just picked up a 5.3L for my 85 s10 xcab bagged and bodydropped on 20s. Picked up motor for $150. It has just about everything minus cam and front parts. It has Intake, throttle body, injectors, fuel rail, 702 heads, rods, pistons, oil pan, and few other parts. What i am wondering is can i bore it out to a 6.0? If so will it be to much? If i leave it a 5.3 what are the upgrades that i can do that is cheap and will get me to 400rwhp and 370lb-torque? Is a 4l60e or a 4l80e better? I have a friend that will sell me a 4l80e (i think its an 4l80e) for $200 i kno its a good deal. Please let me know what u think.

welcome to ls1truck from rockwall tx, the 5.3 can be bored out to a 5.7 then you could stroke it to make a 383 but i dont know what power to expect from doing that you would have to wait for someone to chime in

I am just wondering. It doesnt have to b big power. Its not goin to b a daily well right now i say that. I am looking for a few options b4 i start goin at it. Does ne1 make motor mounts that will work in a 85 s10 for a 5.3?

I am building the truck from frame up. 85 S10 xCab, Tubular controls ($575 for upper and lowers), air ride, 20s($150), 225/35/20s ($100 for all 4 tires), Xcab Body Drop ($600 for cab and frame running), had 4.3 with 700r4 (sold for $200), Complete running Parts Truck 93 running s10 xcab with 2.8 w/5speed running ($300), 5.3L ($150), and i found for a buddy a 4l60e or 4l80e for ($150). Its not that i am cheap, I just find the best deal and study b4 i jump in completely. So I want at least 300 to the ground. The motor is completely apart so i am not worried about goin into the motor.

check out current performance, they also offer a wiring harness as well as radiator e fans and mounts... you may have to get custom headers made to fit the motor being as its body dropped
