For my NBC '99 RCSB Z71 to replace the 4.8L (has 3.73s):
- Stock Rebuilt LM7 bottom end w/ crank kit
- Comp LSr 219/227 .607"/.614" 112 LSA (grind 269Lr HR12)
- Comp dual valve springs
- Comp lifter set
- GMPP high volume oil pump
- 706 heads milled to 10.5: or 11:1, 3AVJ, possible adding 2.02 intake valves
- Nelson tune
- JBA SS shorty headers
- Magnaflow 15753 exhaust
Anyone care to guess on what numbers I'll be putting down at the rear wheels? Any suggestions?
Why shorty headers? They're useless.
sounds pretty good except for the shorty headers(waste of money). what stall are you planning on running?
I know. I just don't want to shell out the money for long tubes and modify the Y-pipe just yet. She's my daily and the goal is to swap the motor over the weekend.Quote:

with that cam it will be choking with anything less than longtubes. headers arent that expensive. if you're going to go through all this trouble, what is another $360?

I think your low end power will suffer a bit without a higher stall converter.
According to CompCams CamQuest and DesktopDyno 2003 (take that with a grain of salt), torque is supposed to peak at 2k and hold steady until about 3,500 and then start dropping off. Horsepower is supposed to peak around 4 grand and hold until 6, and that's without a tune factored in.Quote:

With a circle D 3k stall you will get all the performance you will desire and with a tranny cooler you will be fine on temps and tow just great.
Im building a 6.0 for my DD/work pickup. It will have 243 heads, EPS 218/226 cam with 4 degrees advance ground in, and LPP longtubes. I also dropped the coin for a 2600 stall triple disc yank converter for my 4L80E. A converter with a slightly higher stall speed can actually be a benefit when towing.
