Please add any comments on why you made this choice. I'm thinking of making my own bracket to hold the stock truck compressorif I have room or modding the frame. Got any :pics: of your mods?

IMO you can't beat the LS1 compressor!
as much as I have modded my frame I still wont put that big of a dent in it for the stock ls1 comp in that location.
Notching the frame not really an option for 4WD...
I'm unaware of anyone retrofitting a 96-98 compressor to the LS1. Do you mean 88-95?
PSWired, I'm talking about 96-98 truck A/C compressor to LS1. I saw some pictures by sleeper at Tallahassee muscle cars. I'll try to post it here when I get on my work computer. The bracket that was made has 2 peices of aluminum plate welded together and and idler pulley on it. It's not exactly what I'm looking for but whoever made it did get it to work with the stock compressor and fittings. I'm really just trying to get everyone's opinion here and see what options are out there that work.
def post pics...im wanting to try the 88-94s but i dunno if they are the same size belt etcQuote:

I am so ashamed of how dirty the engine compartment is in my truck but I have no fender wells due to 4+ drop up front with 275s tucked under the fender wells. Oh well, my S&P A/C setup minus one bearing cover since the o-ring broke during shipping? Nice polish job by them!!! Cheap raw finished Sanden 508 compressor since I didn't want to pay $100 more for my dirty engine compartment.
Hey Greg, That might be the way I go too. I was talking with Mark and Lambert with S&P and they said it's an easy install. I probably gonna take the challenge first and try to mod something. What you have is the easiest and probably one of the better setups. Looks good!

I like it. It's clean, I didn't have to butcher anything and it's a simple bolt-on setup. I like my mods like my women, easy.
Vortec..... I modified our frame and it worked out great for us. I'm with Red that the bolt on is nice, quick and easy. Money was the issue on this build and it was cheaper for me to mod the frame than to ditch a brand new compressor we already had to buy a Sanden and a bracket for it. One thing I noticed is after the modification the p-side frame is the same width as the d-side. GM only made the frame fat there so they had somewhere to mount the idler arm. That's my :twocents: Good luck with your project.
