I have just bought a new stereo system for my 2001 Z71 ecsb
1-Pioneer head unit AVH-p 5200BT
2-Alpine front speakers Type R 6.25 component
3-Alpine rear speaker Type S 4x6
4-Alpine V Power 4/3/2Ch amp (300)
The question i have is, could i put 6x9 in replace of the 4x6
speakers in the back doors?
My next question, has anybody put a subwoofer behind the
rear seats. I have the Chevrolet storage box (tool box) mounted
under the rear seat, so i cannot mount anything under the rear seat.:

Won't fit in an ECSB. MAY fit in a CCSB if the subs are shallow mounts.

6x9 probably won't fit in the back doors unless you cut up the panels and mount them on the frontside:barf: You have 2 3/8 mounting depth in the rear doors of an ex cab if I remember correctly. I would go 6.5 or nothing, rear spks are a bit of a waste anyway.
im no expert but i did the 6.50 speakers in the rear doors, had to cut for the bigger speakers. if i were to go back and do it again i wouldnt have done it, just stick with the 4x6. your going to be limited to the 6.5 speakers due to mounting dept.
I say ditch the 4x6 idea, get a small sub under rear seat and bridge rear portion of amp to it.
like lo-lyf, and lechez71 said you can go with 6.5 in the rear doors, but its too much time and effort in my opinion,and plus your limited to 2.4in mounting depth. :ugh2:

I have A 01 ECSB and I have a pair of 8's under my passenger rear seat with custom made box from local stereo guy and on the driverside rear seat I mounted my amp all under the seat the box is built so that the speakers face the floor. Works fine and all is under rear seat.
