hey guys i bought a used pcm believing it was from a V8 TRUCK, 2001 operation system, i know i have to link it to my truck, but when i click on relink tap, it says its from a V6 truck can i still make it work on my truck as long as i change it to a v8 after i relink it. or should i get a v8 pcm. let me know thanks.
you need to take the PCM to someone that can put the factory tune in it for the engine/vehicle you're going to run it in or a suitable vehicle for the application you're using.
take it to TranStar off of 45 and sheperd.....
they can load a stock tune on it
A lot of CarQuests can do the load for you, too.
Well I talked to the guy I got the pcm from,I told him the problem and he said to take it back exchange for another, am going today after work. Any suggestions before I go change it out for a V8 pcm.Quote:

So I installed the new/pcm the junk yard was able to match the serial #. I went ahead and relinked it and started the truck, it did start but miss firing of course cause of the cam and stuff,my question is can I copy and paste from the other tune. Or should I input the value my self.
So I finally got the truck running, one problem on my dash it wont show me the mileage and the gear. When j installed the pcm I relink it with the vin number it came with, and disabled vats. Could that have something to do with the problem.please help.
