Well im about to install a verter in my 4l80, my question is am i going to have to remove the hole trans or will i be able to slide it back far enough. Also what am i looking at for work hours, i have all the tools and a car lift.

2wd or 4wd?
id advise you to pull it completely out so you can change the filter an all without worrying if its right or not.
DISCONNECT the battery
drop drive shaft
unbolt the crossmember
pull the Y-pipe imo
allow the tranny to drop down
drop the starter
pull the 3 bolts for the converter
pull the clips to the cooler lines or undo the fittings...your choice
pull out from underneath truck
pull converter out
put 1qt in the stall
install the stall while pushing an turning side to side in short motions you should be able to BARELY fit your finger tips behind the stall an bellhousing
do everything in reverse
with air tools an a car lift, tranny jack...4-6hrs depending snags an lunch

There is a seal on the input shaft they recommend you replace. I have only replaced mine once in about 6 converter swaps.
Well from the looks of it ill be able to slide the cross member across the the torsion bars since i have a lift kit. what you guys think. Ill be back with results next week.
also i have a slight leak coming from the back of the trans and its slowly dripping all over the transfer case. Im pritty sure there should be a seal back there right?
Are you sure its a seal in the trans and not pump rub? Google pump rub and youll see what im talking about.
Ok that could be a possibility, so what would leak in that case the trans or the transfer case. Because it looks like and smells like trans fluid. Once I drop my tranfer case will i be able to tell if its pump rub?
