Shifting issues
I have an 04 Z-71 with very little done to it. Just exhaust. The last few days, the truck has been shifting funny from 1st to 2nd. Every other gear feels fine. It feels like its shifting a little slow then very solid. Sometimes it feels like it doesn't want to go down to first at a stop. No codes yet. Not a serious issue yet, but i'd like to take care of it before it becomes one. Any suggestions? Tranny flush? Additives? Only has 54,000 miles on it

They can shift different at different operating temps. Mine will shift great one day and on others it'll act like it delay shifts and clunks into 2nd. Hard but slow shift. Mine has 79,XXX miles

how long has it been doing that for? Just started doing it. Thought maybe it had something to do with the donuts I did the other night. Gotta stop doing that stuff
-
haha yea none of that is good for it over time. i wouldn't think it would affect it's shifting tho

I almost wonder if it could be a TCC sticking. It didn't do it yesterday. Maybe it was nothing. Better safe than sorry though.
How do you like the leveling kit and running 33's? I wanna do that to mine in the spring. Hoping to wrap them around a set of 20's too. You have any pics? Would like to see it.

TCC should not affect 1-2 in the least. TCC doesn't lock up in 1st and almost never in 2nd...3rd is rare.

Like Nathan said, TCC is not an issue. 54k miles aren't a lot, but I have seen them go out at less miles. Sounds like the 2nd gear band may be starting to go South. You can find out a lot by draining the fluid. If it looks like metallic maroon paint and smells burned, then I would be worried. If it is still red with small amounts of metal flake in it, it could just be acting weird and thats all.

Yeah, good point on the TCC. Will check the fluid tomorrow. Not gonna drain the pan though. If its ugly on the dipstick, i'm gonna flush all the fluid out

Sorry to revive this tread but as the original poster stated my 03 silverado is doin the same thing. I bought it with 120,xxx on the clock now has 127,xxx. Been doing this pretty much from 1st day I got it. Fluid is fine been checking it almost weekly. Could it be a lousy selenoid, a sticky valve or just needs to be cleaned out really good? I've been towing with it lightly but thru the hills here and thru the Catskills of Upstate NY.
