Vette servo and shift kit install question

Alright I just got my Transgo HD-2 shift kit, vette servos, pinless forward accumulator and also ordered the Sonnax billet 4th servo. Now Im having a guy I know who owns a tranny shop install the parts on monday, and I was just wondering if there was anything I should let him know about doing the install. I know hes done them before but Ive read some posts on here about having violent shifts after they installed the servos and shift kit, but I think I also read on here about shimming something and running a certain amount of washers or running no washers at all? I forget what it exactly was, all I know is I dont want the thing to be banging and slamming in the gears since this is my DD, just looking to make the shifts faster firmer and more crisp, and with that said should I install the sonnax billet 4th servo? The tranny is bone stock and all the truck has on it right now is an exhaust and intake. And also Im going to be taking a long drive from Connecticut to Florida and staying there for the rest of the winter and I dont want the trans to break on me so hopefully all these parts just increase reliability. But if someone could chime in and let me know that would be great!

put the corvette servos in and leave the rest alone until you return home. :thumb:

i agree with Redheartbeat...do just servos an leave the rest in the box until you have time to install the rest an your comfortable with it

Thanks for the quick input. Should I install the billet 4th servo too now? Or wait till I get home to install that too. Any specific reasoning on suggesting on holding off on the shift kit until I get home? Just curious...makes sense just trying wanting to know the specific reasoning. Thanks alot for the help!

do the 4th gear servo too!

bc if you get it back the day before you leave an it shifts harder than you want. the guy may not be able to get you in an out that day therefore youd miss your trip or be forced to drive it shifting harder than you want.

Ya thats true. I wont be leaving until around the 27th of Jan and I know the tranny guy pretty well so if he were to put it in on monday and it shifted to hard I should have time to have him throw it back on the lift and make it better, im not too concerned about that aspect of it, I suppose I could just ask his opinion and tell him how Id like it to shift and see if he can try it get it that way right off the bat. I was just more concerned of it being a reliability issue on my drive to FL. Any chance that it could be?

no..a shift kit firms up the shifts, on a tune without a shift kit an servos the tuner just bumps the line pressure if i remember correctly. im not a tuner by any means. i think the servos an 1 washer will be just right for you. remeber that 1 washer and those servos will help. risp up your tranny even though you put a stall. the more washers the harder the shift. so IMHO id do JUST 1 washer, the servos, the 4th gear servo an w.e else you have. change the seperator plate while your in there to a Sonnax hardened one. i think thats who makes it i can verify when i get home. the OEM one is soft an wears the holes out causing a soft shoft or a shift problem.

Honestly, even 1 washer is too much. I have done different washers (2, 1, 0) and found that 2 washers is downright ridiculous, 1 is a bit much, and no washers is just right....when coupled with a shift kit, stock tranny shift pressures, and servos. And heck, if it isn't firm enough, then all you have to do is drop the pan and manually turn the EPC a 1/4 of a turn.
