Hey farmtruck, Im new to the site but I've been reading alot and it looks like you are the man.
To make a long story short I got a LS1/T56 combo off a 02 TA, I'm putting in my 91 Cheyenne (V6 TBI, auto). I got the motor out the car and I mailed my fuel rail to street and performance to have it changed into a 97-98 corvette system (with the return line and regulator) when they ship it back next week they'll also send me a set of the motor adapter plates.
I got access to anything I want of the car, also I'm not running A/C so I aint worried about that issue. My main concerns are:
1) the wiring
2) fuel pump
3) fuel lines
4) mounting the transmission to the rest of the driveline.
I'm not to worried about the gauges being able to read (at first). I'll address that problem as the paycheck of Dec. 1 rolls aroung the corner. Just as long as the truck runs for a couple of weeks. Help will be appreciated, thanks dude.

S&P makes a sweet a/c kit. The fuel pump I used is a 93 corvette and works great. As for wiring, S&P knows their stuff along with many others. Stay away from Dynatech Motorsports in the LA California area. He advertises on Ebay that he builds a harness in less than a month but it took him over 6 months to get mine back to me even though I nagged him constantly to send it back. Get Allen to burn you a PCM. He did a good job on mine. You'll need truck manifolds most likely. I didn't try the f-body exhausts but the truck exhausts fit really good. You'll need a 4.8/5.3/6.0 truck oil pan. Don't forget to budget money to shorten the driveshaft. The crossmember can be slid forward or backwards as needed.

On my swap I used the F-body oil pan with no problems at all and the f-body manifolds (both off an 02 motor) with no problems. My upper control arm mount on the passenger side required some notching. As far as my tranny crossmember I was able to notch the factory hole.
This was all a 2002 LS-1 automatic into an 1988 1 ton silverado that had a 350 and a 3 speed auto.
Any other questions feel free to ask.

Hey, thanks for the replies guys! I'm pulling the old motor out of the truck and dropping the LS1 on the veterans day weekend. I'll be happy if I can get it in there within that weekend. When it comes to making run, that may take a minute. All the little stuff like the installing the clutch pedal, the wiring harness and hooking up the fuel system may take a couple of weeks.
Did the picture show up? Well heres another one is the clutch line that goes into the tranny, how do you undo it? I cut the line the day I pulled the motor out the car cause I had to return the cherry picker. But I still need to pull whats left of the line on the tranny.
-
Oh heres another thing, the day we pulled the motor we accidentally broke a sensor that was behind intake manifold. I wanna guess is the cam position sensor. Any inputs? Needless to say I need to buy a new one any one know how much they run?

Yep, you sure did break it. I believe what you broke there is the oil pressure sending unit. The cam position sensor is just to the right of the broken sensor.
-
Yes I can confirm that is the oil pressure sending unit, they are very easy to break. I have had to buy one in the past but can't remember the exact price right now, I think around 20 bucks.
On that clutch line I have no idea but from the pick I would look for a snap ring or something like that.
Feel free to ask any more questions.

Hey guys I was talking to street and performance about the fuel rail I sent to have it modified. They asked me if I wanted to add some feature which makes the feed line come out of the driver side for $150. It adds 18 inches of steel braided line with a female A/N fitting. You guys think its worth it? or necessary? By the way thanks for the replies you guys rock status has been aproved!

Well I got the clutch line off the tranny and separated the tranny from the motor to replace the clutch. I have to wait til tomorrow though cuz I have to get the flywheel resurfaced and I want to have tranny checked out, just to make sure everything is good 2 go.
I also pulled the rest of the wiring harness off. I divided it into 3 sections the engine harness, the relay harness and battery to alternator harness. I looks the only thing I'm going to have to fabricated is the wiring to the fuel pump. I went through and labeled every connector so installation is gonna be pretty straight forward. I dont know if I wan to have speartech redo it or if I wanna try to tackle it myself. Its scary.
You guys know how hard it is to find a manual truck, not one in 4 junkyards! I need a clutch pedal badly. Oh, does the LS1 fuel pump drop right into the tank? and kinda of lines are you guys running to the rail (sizes and fittings, the works). Thanks yall.
