Not sure on the '83, but I just installed a '91 454 SS radiator into my '94 silv.
Bolted up two hayden fans.
Should cool pretty well.
If you have the option/budget, get a bigblock radiator, it should have ports for oil trans oil.
Or,
Your stock radiator will cool just fine with two electric fans on it
Or, with the stock clutch fan that came off the 6.0L.
with the steam lines as you say. the swaps ive done. I "Tee'd" into the heater core hose. No issues with this setup for past 3 yrs for the one car
If you want a big radiator you can go to the diesel radiator, it's massive and you'll have plenty of cooling. Get a new reproduction or one that has been rebuilt. Aluminum would be best. Companies like AFCO can build one to your specifications if you want something special, even transmission and oil coolers in the tank ends. Some guys like to move the inlet and outlet both to the passenger end of the tank to clean it up.
that will work, i have a 90 burban donor that had a 454, so i will grab that out of it and stick in some elec. fans.
Thanks for the help.
