GM makes an intake. I'm sure it uses the standard SBC/BBC distributor. Probably still need the weirdo water pump. You'll need a carburetor too....LOL.
I call this two steps forward (getting rid of the Opti-Spark) and half a step back (swapping the ancient TPI LT1 injection for a carb).
Good luck.
I am building a 30 ford rat rod and I have a 30k 4.3 v8 in the corner of my shop with about 2 inches of dust on it, i just hate to see it go to junk yard. I am looking for info on the water pump like you said. Who knows i have a harness i may just leave it.
Pull the heads, intake, and injection stuff off the L99 and sell it....then send it to the junk yard.
Jegs sells the Intake manifold, its a GM performance part, you also need a SBC Distributor, SBC Plug wires, By the sound of the motor a 650 carb sounds about right, ohh yea and if you decide to do this, you could have a Ls series motor installed and running in ur rat rod for about the same cost you will put into that motor.... just my 2 cents
I got a carbed LT1 in my 85 monte ss, you need carb, intake, distributor, plug for opti spark. You have to get a new sbc balancer too. Also figure how to run a bracket system for the alternator. i got mine from hotrodlane.cc
well all is done with the carb swap and it runs great and pretty quick too! Thanks
How bout some pics of your setup i bet it runs awesome!
Wow, I wonder how many fewer posts this section would have if people stopped posting the same bull crap about going LS instead...
This IS an LS engine based site. Hence the Name LS1Truck
