What do you guys think is the best transmission fluid?
Valvoline dextron IV. If you flush it and change it often, like you should, use the cheaper stuff... like Valvoline.
Edit: forgot to include the type.
All the tranny guys tell me never use expensive tranny fluid and especially never use synthetics.
I'm gonna use dino oil always heard never to run synthetic. I put synthetic in my auburn lsd and it didn't grab right, it was to slick. I am assuming the trans kind of works in the same way because of the clutches.
Dextron VI
Royal Purple makes great synthetic drive train oils
I think the Dextron cross over is called their Max ATF fluid.
walmart supertech dextron III, maybe not the best but the cheapest just as long as you change it.
how often do yall change the cheap stuff compared to the good stuff?
I use the Castrol multi use transmission fluid and change it about every 5k since my truck pretty much lives the life of a dragster
+1
Yup--really any Dextron IV or equivalent (as in the Walmart brand) is just as good. All regular tranny fluid is essentially the same. I wouldn't think twice about putting the Walmart brand in my truck. As stated before, synthetics are not really that good because they are too slick...
The same.
