What should the fuel psi be running on a 2005 chevy 1500 5.3L? Also what would cause the fuel pressure to go down not up when you press on the gas pedal? Or is that normal? Thanks Matt

58 psi, dirty filter, bad pump.... it will drop if it cant keep up with the power.
Well i have been told there is "a life time fuel filter" and the truck is running great so is the pump just starting to go bad? Thanks guys
"life time fuel filter"...i believe that about as long as you don't put fuel through the filter!!!!
How low does your fuel pressure go when you press the gas pedal? and what does it return to when you let off?
Well actully my pressure is at about 68 psi and it drops 5 to 15 psi and then goes back up to 65 to 68. I dont know that much about it my friend told me it should go up not down and that the psi is running a little high. Thanks
yeh it should only be 58psi.i would say that 68 cant be good for it anyway.its probly throwin your tune out of wack also.
The filter is replaceable by dropping the tank and swapping out the strainer on the sender cup. Your pressure is too high for sure.
I would have swore I saw a picture on here of someone's fuel pump assy in a 04+ truck and the fuel filter was a canister in the pump assembly.
Yep, that's right ^^^
So i can change the filter. What would cause the pressure to be running high and going down? Also if my truck is running good i have even had a snap on scanner pluged running it doing the road and everything looks good and runs great. Should i just leave it alone or what? Thanks
