I was wondering if the temp gauge is a dummy gauge? I bought a 160 degree thermo that i'm fixin to put in and was wonderin ahead of time if my temp gauge will read right or will still read like it does now

Yep....160* on the gauge corresponds to about 100* on the scanner. There's also a dead spot from about 180 ish to about 220 where the gauge will not move. It will sit just below 210* for that entire temp range.
Also, don't be surprised too much when you don't see what you're expecting. With stop and go city driving you won't see much difference, but when you get on the highway you'll see it drop into the upper 170's probably. The lowest mine ever dropped with the 160* stat was about 176 when coasting on the freeway in 50* weather.
