Flood Damaged 04 6.0

There's a salvage yard near me that has a complete 04 6.0 that he is asking $400 maybe I can get him down to $350. heres the problems its has been under water, the spark plugs are out so i am sure the cylinder walls has rust.....do you think it would be worth going through and how much do you think it would cost for a maching shop to clean it up and reassemble it. I not even sure if you can hone these engine without having to go bigger. Well yalls opinions would be greatly appreciated. sorry if this is vague but i am onsite at a service call and have to run.

In my opinion no unless you plan on doing a lot of modifications to the engine it's not worth it. For instance I want to do an LQ4 swap and go to a forged crank from eagle with 4" stroke and +30 bore. So I wouldn't care. But If I wasn't going to just do a swap I could get a complete engine for ~600 plus freight. So I would say if you plan on changing a lot of things any way then go for it if you can get it below $400 but if not forget about it.

Well I suppose if you could get a complete engine for &#036;600 like the poster above it wouldn&#39;t make sense to buy one you that have to freshen up. If this engine is complete with accessories it is certainly worth &#036;400, especially if you do your own teardown and assembly. If you are going to farm the work out and pay some one else to do it, this is probably not the deal for you..... unless you have someone you know and trust....

i can get it for &#036;375... don&#39;t need the 317 heads, intake, brackets engine covers etc... so i could sell them and maybe get 40% to 60% of my money back..... i real lite hone, new bearings, rings and bolt on my 4.8 intake and assy and i should be good to go.

i wonder if my 243s head thats on my 4.8 which have been milled .035" would have a PtoV clearance issue and what would the CR be

should not be a problem with valve clearance unless you go really high on lift. I ran .610 without any issues on the LS1 with 243 heads.

thanks thats good to know...i would probably use the cam out of my 4.8 581 lift.....when i checked the pv on the 4.8 i had only around .070 so i decide not to use the .040 cometic head gasket that i spent &#036;180 on.

All I want is the short block...if yall want anything off of it let me know. Remember it has been under water ....the wiring harness looks pretty good definiantly some contact cleaner though.....I was able to get the engine for &#036;350 but had to spend 200 on a cherry picker..i would like to get some of my money back by selling some of the parts

Help a brother out on his swap. Where is this place located?

if you need the engine mag checked for cracks and such i can do it, i have the equipment, and the certification. that goes for everyone too just let me know.
