Am I nuts or what? I bought my wife a Liberty back when they first came out 'cause she thought they were cute. It was a POS as far as the motor and trans and the brakes were very inadequate. We didn't keep it long. Now I am thinking "find a 2 wheel drive version, drop it 2/4, and shove a LS1 in there" I think it would make a pretty cool daily driver, what do you guys think? I could upgrade the brakes and put some nice wheels on it and it should be a sleeper.

Do they make 2wd versions of that hunk of shit and plastic? Yea, it'll be the ultimate sleeper, but good luck keeping that frame straight with all that torque. It's pretty weak, I'd imagine. Jeeps suck, period.

Yeah, the 2wds are quite a bit cheaper. All the reviews of the Liberty say it has the strongest undercarriage of any vehicle of its type. It was supposedly purposely designed to be very very off-road type tough. I know that don't matter as far as what I am considering but I don't think the frame would be an issue. I just think it would look cool lowered down and if it had a bowtie under the hood it would be fast and dependable.

just saw a few around here lately. they look to top-heavy to me, especially putting a ls1 in one, your askin for a high speed rollover. :nono:

Not good for the wifeee... you dont want a rollover... a friend was in one recenetly (explorer)... not fun at all. And they are still a fairly light car regardless of the frame strength... now a ls1 in an explorer would just be pure suicide.
