I re-installed the 408 last night or should I say this morning since I pulled an all-nighter and finished up about noon after a parts run for a Mobil1 filter, oil and new NGK TR6 plugs. It runs sweet and no more smoke at startup. :thumb: While I was at it I pulled the Vig3600 convertor out, it stalled at 4000 rpm and figured it would be hard on a new engine during break-in. I may be sending it back to Precision for re-stalling since it was way too loose. The engine is stout with the stock convertor, you can really feel when the you come up on the cam.

Sorry, Alton, forgot to look for the rear end while I was there. It looks like they've made some progress on it.
Helmet stays in the truck these days. I make my virgin trek down the track just to have them tell me I have to wear one next time. I love it when that happens. :thumb:
Tired? Hell yeah but it's a good tired.

Cool - congrats on finishing it! Gonna head down to Ennis anytime soon?

I'm going to put about 1000 miles on it before hammering it at the track. That's the plan anyway. I know, top fuel cars are fresh built and then blast down the track but they throw the bearings away every round and rebuild it after each pass and I can't afford to do that.

What happened, lose compression on a cylinder?

cool man didnt realize you had yanked the motor.. did you just throw in fresh bearing and rings, slap her back together or did you change other stuff while you had it out? glad you have her running again...
