Hey guys I have been tryin to get this question answered at :s1 tech forever so maybe yall can help me out! I want to do a Ls1 conversion this summer but know very much about the components needed yet. I lknow that I have to get the wiring harness but thats as far as I have gotten so far. So if yall could help out that would be great!!

Read the pinned topic for OBS conversions in the Conversions section here. It will outline what you need and what all needs to be done. It's not exact because it was written from memory but it hits most of the highlights of the swap and how to do it and what parts are required.

Ya I read that last night but i have heard that I will need a new radiator and tranny or will a 700R4 work?? thanks for the help
-
I would highly recommend a 4L60e or 4l65e to match the engine. The radiator is fine but you'll need an electric fan if you go LS1. You can use the manual factory fan with your old stock shroud if you must, if you have a truck engine with the screw on fan. I ran the 28" radiator with LS1 factory fans without any issues. I got a new 34" rad for the NBS fans but really didn't need either.

Ok but my truck is a Z71 and I was thinking of converting it into a 2wd but if not do you know what the best transfer case would be to use or would mine do the trick?
-
i wouldn't convert your truck to a 2wd, you can run you transforecase until you break it then you will have a 2wd. also if you want a 2wd just go buy one that is already a 2wd.

Anyone know where I could get a transfer case that could hold the power but not be to heavy on the pockets??
-
You could just run what you have until it breaks or wears out and then worry about replacing it when you can afford to do that.
-
well ya but i will be able to afford it when i do the swap and i would rather get it beefed up so that i dont have to worry about after words. with my luck it would blow out within the first month!!!

Do a 4L80E with a 3/4 ton T case that will hold alot of power.
