will my 93 4l60e work with an LS swap

Hi all! I'm somewhat new here. Well i havent started on my swap yet, heck i dont even have the engine yet. But i have an issue. My trans just took a dump in my 93 C1500. So, I want to get it rebuilt by the local trans shop. I know the guy who owns it and he says he can build the trans i have. But, since i want to swap a 5.3 in, will my 4L60e work with an LS? Or to be more specific, should i get an updated 4l60e and get that built instead? Any advice would be awesome

i was going to do this because my 94 4l60 i had was built for boost but then i was told that the plugs were different on the newer style harnesses and it was not compatible with newer style trucks because of the computer. hopefully someone here can confirm this.

A look at the wiring diagrams for the 2 different years would clear that up. If the plugs were different, I'm sure the wiring couldn't be that difficult to swap over and get the trans to work. I'm more inclined to think the plugs are the same but the wiring is different but am not sure.

My harness and engine came out of a 99 Silverado, 6.0 with 4x4 4L80E. The plug was the same as the 4L60E but the wiring was different. I simply removed the wires and placed them in the appropriate position in the plug. I also had to add 2 wires and run them to the PCM as well. My PCM was also flashed to run the '99 Escalade 4L60E I am currently using. It works like a charm.

Here are some diagrams for the 4L60E plugs. I also threw in a diagram of the 4L80 to show that the plugs look similar. There are differences in wiring as well. The one diagram is right out of the Chevrolet wiring diagrams manual and the other 2 are from the 1999 Chevrolet service manual. Hope this helps clear up some confusion.

I still may have my original 93 plug. I will have to check it to see if it looks like the one in the 93 manual or the one in the 99 manual.

thanks for the info everybody! I think i might look for an engine/trans complete swap instead. I feel like it would be a better way to do it than to start messing with the wiring. Thanks again!
