It's about time to start making the truck faster.
I want to get a Walbro pump/tune/(injectors?) from Nelson, and am going to FINALLY get rid of this handheld tuner.
Questions 1) is there a HOW-TO thread anywhere for the walbro pump? Where to cut, how to wire it-in, etc? I've searched and can't find much besides "cut the bucket to make it fit" and people having issues with wiring come undone. Are people soldering these and putting small fuel hose over the wires to act as shrink wrap? The truck is a daily driver, so I can't be having "reliability" issues. It has a 163k miles on it, so I want to at least get the parts ordered before something goes bad.
Question 2) is there really any reason to buy new injectors NOW? With tune/intake/exhaust/ud is there anyway I'm maxing out my stockers? I want to put a turbo on the truck within the next 2 years, so I know I'll need them eventually, but is it worth putting them on NOW, or should I hold off? Does anyone make a direct fit upgrade for fuel rails? Reading on the Honda boards, people were making decent power increases on completely stock motor by upgrading rail. I know the LS motors are a completely different beast, but trying to get all my bases covered now.
I want to upgrade the pump/tune to get what I can out of this motor N/A. Once my trans goes, I will be throwing in a FLT/stall (what is recommended for boosted applications?) , and THEN I will start the turbo build. It's pointless to do it now, my trans won't make it down the block.
