ok my TC cratered my front pump and front pump gear. now that it has been fixed, it will not lock up. im driving about 75 mph doing 3,000 rpms. what would cause this?
they shimmed the TC so it would fit properly. i also have 3.73 gears and before it went out last 75 would run me about 2000 rpms.
any ideas before i take it back?

I'm no expert on this, but I think there is an orifice that allows fluid to be pumped through it and apply pressure to something to allow the converter to lock up.

Hey, why was the converter shimmed? anyway, did you check to see that the o ring was installed on the input shaft. there is a o ring on the tcc apply solenoid also. if the tcc valve above the tcc solenoid is sticking this could be a problem. verify for any codes, this can tell us alot.

the converter was shimmed because it had been rebuilt and was not going all the way into the front pump which is why the front pump shattered
and i didnt get to see if the o-ring was installed or not i wasnt there. it wouldnt surprise me if those dumb asses at cottmans did not put it in there.
    p1870 was thrown this morning.
    that was the only one.
i had it checked out by century automotive and he said that it is eaither a bad tc solenoid or the clutch is bad in the tc.
i dont think it is the tc because two bit just had it redone. and i only drove it for about 1200 miles. before the trans went.
also said i might have the wrong front pump gear need a pwm ( i think thats what he said, something about a pulse pump).
not a non-pwm going to have that checked out to.

Daniel, give John Goebel a call when you get a chance and tell him whats going on. He may be able to give you some suggestions on what might be going on.

Yeah I'd think about that Lockup solenoid being bad. I had a lockup clutch go bad once and it felt like it was slipping and shuddering in 4th.

this is the same guy that rebuilt it right?
if the converter was bad would he repair it?
also does he know that you sold it to me?
i'm thinking that i am going to have the trans rebuilt again by century automotive, and while it is out i might send it to him if he will look at it.
or i might have century have their own guys look at it.
they seemed to do a good job on 02 Denali's converter.

doesnt shudder just runs real high of an rpm
75 at 3,000 rpms is a little high for me.
and damn does it suck gas.
    mike at century
put a scanner on it while we drove it and said that the TC is trying to lock up but i wont
the rpms drop about 30rpms but the stall overides it because the stall is so high. so it seems like its not even locking up.
    did that make since there?

Damn that's weird. Hopefully it is somethin simple. Maybe that TC lockup solenoid is bad....or unplugged. Ah well soon your problems will be over.
