Bought the truck in 2006 36k miles. The plan for the truck when i bought it was just to make it look good and haul my quad (YFZ450) on the weekends.
Specs when I bought it:
- 2002 Regular Cab Short Bed
- 4.3 V6
- 4L60E
- 3.42 with one tire fire
- intake
The night i bought it me and some buddies took all the molding, emblems, pinstripe off.
On day 2 of my owning the truck it got 2" lowering shackles and the Billet 22's.
Next came a small system, 1 JL 10" w3v3, crossfire amp, kicker doors and rear pillar speakers, pioneer deck.
After about 2 moths i got tired of my nose bleeding from sitting so high, so the 4/6 drop went on.
next came the color matched front bumper, roll pan, door handles, mirrors.
Then i saw the Hd Grille conversion but i could not find the top pad for the Hd truck anywhere, so i made do with the Hd grille on the 1500 bumper.
so, then i thought i was done, after all who wants to do anything performance to a v6.......then i stumbled on to this site, all the talk about v6-v8 swaps got me wanting to try it.
so i found a 5.3l, harness, and pcm for $750....then the madness started

ok
i havent updated this in a while and with the addition of the lq4 added to my shop i thought i would share the current plans for the build
i purchased an lq4 off the list of craig for $350,
after doing much reading/ research and talking to some of the guys here and on pt.net i decided the low compression lq4 just isnt gonna cut it for me.
those that know me real well know that im not a FI kinda guy and the NA power potential just isnt there with the lq4.
so the plans are to get the block to the machine shop and see how uch they need to bore it, and then i will be in the market for a rotating assembly.
gonna go 4" stroke and whatever the bore needs to be, im gonna assume by looking at the piston walls it wont be over .030 over, as ive seen much worse that only needed .030 so i assume i will be building somewhere close to a 408cu, i want somewhere in the 11:1-11:7 compression ratio range
the engine will the get a set of worked L92 heads
i would like to see 475+ to the wheels NA, but we'll see what happens, this will be a long build as im a broke college student, but i hope it will all be worth it in the end.
current build pics...not much
in the disassemble stage right now
