NNBS 07 RCSB Cam Swap ?????'s

    Acquired a comp 206/212 112LSA cam for my 07 4.8 liter.

What all else is needed to buy for the cam swap. The truck has 243 heads stock, I'm not sure what valvesprings come stock in those, but I would assume that I would need new valvesprings--wanting to go LS6er's and new pushrods.

What else is needed. I want to say that I remember reading somewhere that on the new trucks, the cam gear or cam sensor is located in a different location, just wanting to make sure I've got all the right stuff before it gets torn apart.

Oh, and the 4.8 like my truck does not have the VVT or AFM or anything like that.

Was the cam made specially for the 07 NNBS 4.8L motor? Make sure it was... If so, you should be in good shape for the cam. What kind of lift numbers does the cam show? If they are below .550/.550, then you could get by with the stockers. But it is recommended that you get 7.4 Hardened Pushrods and at least Comp 918 or similar springs.

Why does it have to be made for the 07+ 4.8???? I was under the impression that ls1/ls6 cams would fit into the LS2 style motors, just not the other way around.

The lift on the cam is like .512 or .520 range.

The cam gear is different and the cam sensor is in the front now.
The older cams had a reluctor ring on the back of the cam, his new '07 doesn't.

You can retro fit the older cams in the newer engines though. Just buy a different cam gear with the three bolt holes, vs one big center bolt hole, and it'll work.

You the man Allen. I thought there was a retrofit needed, but wasn't too sure what it was. Thanks

Yeah bro, you need to change out the sprocket or something like that. You can ask on rgvtruckperformance.net what is needed. Alot of members on there have done cam swaps on nnbs trucks already.
