    DBC or DBW in a 1998 Tahoe.........

    Im in the early stages of planning an LS swap into my 98 2 door Tahoe 4x4 and IM currently looking at engine options. I plan on repinning my OEM harness and using it with a 411 PCM. question is, should I stick with DBC or do I have a better selection of engines if I can go with DBW? Im not familiar with DBW or if the gas pedal assembly can even work in the GMT400 trucks.

    The engine choices won't change much with cable or wire. The PCM options will. I cant remember off my head but there are pcm's that won't work with dbw and ones that won't work with dbc. A little research should get those answers pretty quick. The cable throttle body and 411 PCM will run a lot of stuff.
    I have dbw and love it. The pedal did require a little bit of work to fit but it wasn't hard at all. I like the cruise control of the dbw the best.

    I guess I just read a lot of people complaining about installing the DBW pedal in the GMT400s. I will be using the 411 PCM and knowing I could technically run a DBW engine now gives me a lot more options for engine choice.

    Do you know of any websites or tech write ups on what needs to be done to get the DBW pedal installed in these trucks?

    I didn't ever find a write up. I just jumped in and made it fit. I was able to use all the original mounting holes and hardware from old pedal. I think I just had to drill a hole or two in the dbw pedal. I cut and bent and welded the arm of the pedal to be where it needed to be. Took maybe an hour total. I de pinned the connector for the pedal and fed the wires through a grommet and into the same hole where the old throttle cable went through the firewall. The TAC module bolts right in where the old cruise module was. Even used the original cruise module bolts and rubber isolators.

    Maybe someone who has more knowledge can answer this. I have often wondered if the drive by wire pedal assembly from a 6.5 diesel GMT400 could be used on these conversions.

    Technically the colors and descriptions seem to match.

    I did exactly what Chevydillan did. I still need to cut and shape mine to fit better but it works great and is really responsive. I too love the cruise control. Much better than the old setup.


    Cant seem to make the images larger and easier to see from Alldata. Its obviously a screen shot from my computer.
