    4l80e flexplate

So it appears to me that I have the wrong flexplate or possibly torque converter Im not sure. Can anyone tell me if this is right or show me a picture of what should be right? I am going from a 1996 4l80e to a 2003 LQ4 from a express van. The torque converter is original to the 96 80e and the flexplate is from the original LQ4.

Heres pics of the torque converter and the crank snout at the rear of the block. It seems like it has a spacer on it to me but maybe Im mistaken.

Why do you think its the wrong one? WIll it not bolt up to the torque converter? Bolt holes dont line up? If you had the flywheel bolted to the motor, and tried hooking up the torque converter to it, maybe you didnt have the converter "set in" all the way. when you put the converter in, spin it and apply pressure, I think you should hear it drop 2 or 3 times. It looks right to me because its the 6 hole pattern

I have not seen one to know for sure, but there were early 6.0's that had a longer crank and I think iron heads. You may have the vehicle years off, or someone did a swap or repair before you bought it.

Looks like the correct flexplate. Knock the spacer off the crankshaft and see if it will slip over the convertor guide, or lift the convertor off the trans and try to slide it into the crank.

The bellhousing wont pull tight to the engine. I have pulled the converter several times and re installed it to the trans. I can feel it drop into place like it should but it never goes any further. The bolt holes all line up perfectly to the flywheel.

I ran the VIN from the block and it seems original. It has aluminum heads from the factory.

I pulled the converter and it slides right into the crank no problem. It seems like the ears on the torque converter are too long. They hit the flywheel preventing the trans from seating to the engine block. I am going to call the guy I got the truck and trans from to see if maybe they had the torque converter made special for something that might be causing me problems. I know that the trans was changed in the truck at one time but I dont know if they changed from a different model trans to the 80e. Any suggestions on how to safely get the spacer off? It didnt come off with the flywheel when I took it off. I have been soaking it in PB's for a couple days now but still hasnt budged. I am being a lil gentle with it cause I dont want to damage the crank or bearings in the engine since I am not doing a rebuild on it.

Thanks for all the help fellas!!!
