Im about to pull my old motor/tranny out of my 89 fsc and put it up for sale so I can drop in an ls1. Id like to do the wiring myself rather than spending $500 on a new custom harness. My question is : Do I need to keep the stock engine compartment harness for the swap or should I leave it on the motor when I sell it? Im just trying to get the most money for the motor/tranny as a complete setup with computer etc. Maybe I should keep the firewall half of it and sell the engine half with it?
Also is $1500 too much to ask for a rebuilt 350 tbi with a 700r tranny?
thanks

Yea i think you will only need half of it because you will be splicing everything anyway. You wont need any of the old 350 connectors as far as i know. Check the old threads i posted something about wiring a few weeks ago...

I wouldn't get rid of anything untill the swap was done.
Luckily I didn't,wound up needing a few things I didn't think of.

yea well Id like to do that but the bank is having issues giving me a loan for a motor so Im trying to raise some money for the swap. Ok so the bundle of wires that runs into the drivers side of the firewall needs to stay there because that is for the gauges and stuff right? Id have to cut those wires so I could splice into them.
What about the pass side wiring that runs into the stock computer under the dash. I would no longer need that for the new motor would I? That way I could sell the motor with the computer? maybe?
Is it going to hurt the sale of the motor if I sell it without the stock engine harness? I guess thats what I am concerned about.
thanks

All depends on what you're going to get with the new engine.ECM harness on the '89 goes to relays you might need, brake switch, cruise, fuse block.I don't think you'd get more for the engine/trans with the harness. Most people buying would be replacing a bad engine.
