    LS1Truck Raceday Suggestions/Comments

    Hey guys,

We're open to suggestions regarding the 2nd LS1Truck shootout.

So far we have a few ideas.

    - Fastest 16 racers throw down!
    - Open Bracket racing
    - Grudge races
    - Burn-out contest
    - Various awards and prizes

I spoke to someone today about the Fastest 16 racers and here's how it works (correct me if i'm wrong travis)

Fastest 16 trucks qualify. To qualify, you are you required to participate in a 10 mile cruise down the highway and back, escorted by the pace truck. You'll be going the speed limit, are not allowed to fall behind or pass. This is simply a course to prove your truck is street worthy.
None of this is set in stone, just some ideas to get started.
The top 16 races are matched up like this:

    1 vs 16
    2 vs 15
    3 vs 14
    4 vs 13
    ...
    8 vs 9

I love the way this is setup (just like for the big time racers) because it allows fast trucks to compete against other fast trucks.
It's a heads up competition, no car lengths, just flat out racing, no bracket racing, get across the line first, you WIN!
Keep in mind, the #1 qualifier doesn't always win, anything can happen.

After that, we'll have some test and tune runs.

Then finish up the remaining 8 fastest.

Have some Open bracket racing competition.

Then finish up with the remaining 4 racers, then finals.

Then open racing, burn out, grudge matches, etc.

    Finally, awards and prizes.

During and bracket and Top 16 races, they'll be plenty of time for test and tune runs.

Last year the track was open at 10am, lanes open at 12noon, then closed at 5pm. If we can raise enough money, sponsors, etc, we might be able to keep the track open all day and night! WOW!

So what do you guys think, any suggestions and changes are welcome, again, this is just the rough draft.

    later,
    allen

    Sounds great...

sounds Great... but Next step is the date....... how far away ?... A customer of mine broke his rear axle this weekend... So he used my Truck/trailer to get home... so i turned on the AC and drove 35 miles home on my Street tires... Felt pretty good except the 5" exhaust makes it feel like i am in a NASCAR

Good to talk to you today Allen. This is going to be fun. Hope that procharger of mine is going to be good enough to complete with 15 turbo trucks.

However, you're already talking bs and the truck is on jack stands, lol.
Get it on the track, run some respectable times, then say "to all the haterz" because that vid is weak lol.
You got a long ways to go to compete with the turbos!

Go turbo and be done with it.

Can the pace truck head in the direction of a Dairy Queen? I know Jon can't turn down a Turtle Oreo Blizzard and that 16oz. might give me the edge I need.

So is #1 the fastest and #16 the slowest? I'm assuming not since it doesn't make sense for the fastest to race the slowest...explain please...

If I remember correctly, the radio was blaring everywhere last year. I might be alone in this but I don't care about listening to the radio at the track...would rather hear the announcer. Is the radio a requirement (commercials/advertising/revenue for the track maybe?)? If we're calling classes etc., quiet is better IMO. Sucked at the Lightning meet too because you couldn't hear crap and it was impossible to organize anything.
