    6x9's in The Pillar

So i thought i'd post up some pics of the 6x9's i installed in my pillar's where the stock 5x7's usually are. Took me about 2 and half hours. Was actually very suprisingly easy. And SOUNDS WAY better then the stock speakers.
(sorry for the couple of blurry pics. Taken on my Iphone)

    The Culprit: 6x9 Kicker Impulse

I Wanted it To look stock when i was done, so i cut the hole bigger, and had to beat the support beam over a little

    Perfect Fit

    Wire Detail.

    Just about finished

I am NOT a fan of 6x9s, but to each his own. The install looks clean and well done. Good job.

I would have opted for 6.5" components.

Ya, I probably wouldn't have normally put 6x9's there, but seeing as how I got them for free from my neighbor so I couldn't resist lol

anything is better than those crappie 4x6s, when i first got my truck i cut them out and put 2 6x9s underneath my back seat, now i connected them back up (aftermarket of course) and amplified the 6x9s just for the hell of it so now i have 6 speaker plus 2 subs, still in progress of upgrading

will be missed.....05 Silverado extended cab sportside
99 tahoe: 5.7 stock for now
08 cbr600rr: full yosh exhaust, power commander, timing retarder, 520 conversion with sprocket -1 +2 and k&n filter

    agreed.........

but those cuts are not very pretty, good thing the panel covers it all. a pneumatic body saw would be a good investment. You also could have cut the wires shorter instead of wrapping them all up but not a big deal. Sorry to be critical. I'm sure they sound better than the 4x6's. Kicker's mids/highs suck but they are better than factory and you can't beat the price.

maybe personal preference, but IMHO they don't 'suck', the KS, RS and really the QS sound amazing. The Impulse line went away a long time ago. I'd put the SS/QS components up against pretty much any component sets.

I put some ks coax's in the pillars of my 94 and thought they were pretty flat. Better than 4x6's but not near as good as the diamond coax's I've installed. A friend has some rs components in his 06 Sierra on a 600.4 and I think my mtx components that came in my truck on my rf t400.4 sound leagues better(and I think they suck). It is all personal preferrence, what one person loves another person hates. It's no big deal. Just like kicker subs, they are loud but I don't think they sound good and smooth, it's all about personal preferrence.
