Talking

by the end of this week (hopefully,) i'm going to be getting my rollpan put on the truck.. as long as i have it in the paint booth i'd like to get some other things painted and touched up aswell.

my question is, i'm going to be getting my mirror caps done.. what's the easiest way to get them off? i tried with my fingers earlier today, but wasn't too forceful about it.

any and all info would be appreciated!

    thanks, brad

I'm not sure if they come apart. Take the mirror off the door. Its just 3 nuts. and tape up the glass of the parts you dont want painted. Be sure and tape up the screws on the mirror also. It can be a bitch to get a nut on there if the screw is caked with clear.

they come apart, but ud have to go in on the glass side, and remove the glass to get to them. it might be worth the time to do that, cuz mirrors have spots u really cant get good unless they r taken apart. my mirrors look as good as ive seen, but they still have things that need attention. its just very hard to get all the lil spots without running the paint.

To get to them you have to take the mirror off, once you do that you should be able to pop the outside piece off, once you do that get it painted popo it back on, put some kind of glue around the inside circle part on the mirror that connetcs it to make sure it will hold and put it back on and your good.

they're the black textured caps. i figured they would have to come off some how, but i wasn't sure exactly how.. i may try and pry them again with a bit more force.

The mirror cap is held on by double sided tape and has 4 tabs with extra wide ends that lock the tabs into the mirror body. You will need to get the mirror of and be ready to replace it if you are not EXTREMLY careful. The mirror has a ring of tabs that lock onto a circle in the center of the mirror body that rotates. If you get a metal paint can opener that is thin and over 3" long you might be able to pull enough tabs back on the mirror to let hte rest pop off. Good Luck.
