Question Want to black out my grille

Im looking for tips and advise as to which products to use to spray paint my stock chrome and gray plastic grill into a all black grill. DO i just scuff the chrome up and spray over it or should I take it down to the base plastic?

Ive done both ways of course taking the crhome off is the best was but a pita scuffing it and using that rust tough paint or whatever works pretty good.

I've had good luck with that "Bulldog" adhesion promoter.

Well 320 grit was futile. I started with 100 grit 3m foam block to scuff the chrome and plastic... More to come.
