    Tire width

Hey there. Hope I'm posting this in the right section, newbie here, so if not, apologies ;-)

I have a 2wd '03 Sierra and I'd like to put some wider tires on it. I have a 6 lug wheel but I don't know the width of it. I would like to know how wide a tire I can go with that will fit on the rim and not rub when I turn the wheels to full lock. Anyone know?

It's a 7'' wheel. I run 275/60/17's. About 10" worth of tire on the pavement.

He was looking for width of the rim, but you are right, it should be 16" diameter. 7" width sounds right to me as well (but I'm no expert on this).

I have my slicks on 16" tahoe wheels, 28x11.5/16 and I wouldn't recommend put a really wide tire on that wheel

    Wheel is a 16x7, I wouldn't go over 275 on it

You can put whatever size tire on it you want but there comes a point where there is only so much contact patch on the pavement because of the tire having to basically bend to fit the rim. A 7'' wheel 285 would be pushing it (it would look killer though), I think a 265 would be the sweet spot.
