Chrome spray paint. Anyone ever use it?

I know it's gonna look like shite, but I bought a can of Duplicolor Chrome spray paint that I'm gonna hit my center caps with. They've been off the truck for a while cause the chrome was flaking really bad. I know this is no where near the optimal way to do them, But there are no Chromers in this area and I don't want to ship them off. Plus I'm gonna be sellin it soon anyways. As long as they look close to chrome from a few hundred feet away I think I'll be satisfied. Let me know if you have any experience with this stuff.

ive heard to get it to look more like a chrome finish and not silver, you have to use a black basecoat first then the chrome spray over it.

I'll be sure to try that. I'm gonna use one as a guinea pig to see how the whole process turns out. I'm also gonna clear coat them and see if that helps.

After you paint them black you might put them on and see how they look. Black might look better than the chrome paint.

Well, I got them sprayed and they don't look like chrome, but more of a bright metallic silver that is used on some rims. They look good from afar but far from good. I'm gonna wax them and throw them on.

No. Didn't clear them. But the paint seemed really soft. I put 3 coats on top of the black and let them dry overnight and they were still pretty soft. Anyone got any tips on how to make them look more chrome-like? I tried puttin them on when I had them painted black and it really didn't look right. I've thought about painting them the same color as the truck though.
